Shaheen Airline

Shaheen Airlines has been officially accepted as the second national airlines of Pakistan ever since it came into being in 1993. It was also the first private airlines of Pakistan. Launched by a subsidiary of the air force of Pakistan, the carrier now serves almost all domestic airports of Pakistan. Apart from that, it also has international flights to almost all major cities of the Persian Gulf. The airports that Shaheen Airlines serves include Karachi, Islamabad, Peshawar, and Sialkot domestically.

In the Persian Gulf, its carriers fly to Muscat, Mashadd, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Doha mainly from Karachi and Islamabad. In total it covers five cities domestically and eight internationally. It recognizes Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar as its focus cities. This is no surprise as most of air traffic in Pakistan is centered on these three destinations. The airlines have also set up airport booking counters at these airports to facilitate its passengers.

Though it announced plans of a proposed flight to the United Kingdom, it has not yet started. Shaheen Airlines also provide cargo services in addition to the passenger airlines services. The airline is famous if this facility. The charter service of the airlines was also launched as soon as it began operations. The charter services are still available for people to avail.

The cargo services of the airline include general cargo (typical goods like documents and garments) and Perishable cargo (for perishable goods like fruits and meat). Special care is taken for keeping such goods in excellent conditions with fast delivery and maintenance of low temperatures. It also offers cargo services to carry live animals like most other airlines. Another service offered is cargo service for valuable and special items that need extra care and security in handling all the while. The airlines also has a small courier service of its own for delivering consignments which have to be delivered urgently.

The headquarters of the airlines are at the Jinnah International Airport, Karachi and it has another big hub at the Benazir Bhutto Airport, Islamabad. The fleet of Shaheen Airlines consists entirely of Boeing-747 carriers. It has more than 15 aircrafts in its fleet as of now. All the aircrafts are 125 seaters and cater to the economy category of travelers. In fact, it is one of the main Airlines of the country. All its flights were halted for three days in 2005, due to this reason owing to large debts that it owed to the Civil Aviation Authority. However, after assurances and payments the services were resumed after three days.

This is probably the only black chapter in the history of the airlines carrier.
It is one of the better serving airlines of Pakistan. It has received mainly positive reviews from domestic travelers. Like most modern air carriers Shaheen Airlines has made its ticketing options available on the internet and majority of tickets are now booked via the web space only. The tickets can be booked by visiting its website, which has been launched as an effort to modernize the carrier in 2006.

Shaheen Airlines is popular among the travelers. It usually has high occupancy rates. Tickets are booked in advance and a recent report from internal sources state the occupancy rate of the airlines to be as high as 83%. If we talk about the facilities provided by the airlines, it includes the meal served according to the Islamic customs and dishes. It also publishes its in-house magazine that is available for the travelers. The travelers can also choose to read either the English or Urdu newspapers on the flight. It boasts of its own training facility for its crew and also of an in-house kitchen.

Shaheen airlines has also liaison with a number of international carriers from other countries. On this date, it has an inter-line agreement with international carriers that fly to Pakistan. Shaheen Airlines is looking to expand in future. Though their attitude clearly states that they want to continue using only Boeing carriers it has experimented with Airbus in the past. As they have themselves stated they plan to expand their servicers to Europe and North America in the near future. Apart from their views, it looks at domestic expansion of its services and modernizing its facilities both on the flight and off it.

Generally, Shaheen airlines can offer you the comfort that you can expect from a premium airline. The cost is lower for longer mileages hence offering you value for money always.
